San Diego, CA March 2014

Our first vacation we ever took together as a couple was San Diego...and to this day it is one of my favorite places we have ever gone. I always tell people, "If I could afford to live there, I would" :) You know when you go somewhere and it just speaks to you? I don't know if it was the time of year, the fact that it was still cold in UT and it was perfect weather, or if it's because it was our very first trip together. Maybe we looked at things in a different way... But, we loved every bit of it! Our first day that we got there we rented a car and drove to Tijuana, MX. If you are adventurous, and up for an experience... we would recommend it, If you don't like to get out of your comfort zone...I don't think you'd like it. It was definitely eye opening. It's crazy that literally just across a walking bridge you can be in a place that is night and day different than San Diego. It's almost shocking in a way. We walked around for a while, we saw the square, where they have this really nice center and a quaint church, we walked through a fruit market (where of course everyone and their Momma wanted us to buy their things)...we were kinda scared to eat anything there because of the sanitation factor. Then we started heading back to our car (which we parked on USA soil). We decided to walk across the border, as opposed to driving, just to be safe, and we heard it might be quicker..It took an hour and a half to get back into the United States...it was a little insane, i'm not gonna lie. But, we made it back safe and sound :).

Talk about a night and day difference we went to Coronado Island and hung out on the beach for a while and it was so beautiful! It was a little windy so it seamed like we had the whole beach to ourselves :) We took pictures for hours, and just enjoyed the sand in our toes.

The next day explored Balboa Park and stumbled across a botanical garden just right outside the San Diego Zoo. I'm telling you, we could have spent hours and hours there just smelling the roses...oh wait, i'm pretty sure we did. haha.

From the botanical gardens we drove straight to La Jolla beach just in time for the perfect sunset. If you have never been there....You have to go! It's so beautiful, like a beach right out of the movies. We walked along the sidewalk, and then down to where the seals were. Oh my gosh you guys, the seals were so cute!! It was such an awesome day, I still remember it like it was yesterday...We ended the day playing run away from the waves, it was so fun, we even saw some seals playing in water right next to us.

The next morning we woke up and went to this beach that was recommended to us, called Bird Rock. It was the cutest little town and the most beautiful beach. The tide was way down, so we were able to take tons of pictures of the marine life and walk along all the of the exposed (slippery) rocks.
We then went to a place called Torrey Pines. (the most awesome State Reserve) It's basically a loop over a hill that consists of a bunch of little hikes that look out over the ocean. It has the most breathtaking views and beautiful trees, and flowers, and cacti. We spent hours and hours there just soaking up the beauty, and ended our time at Torrey Pines by watching the sun paint the water 30 different shades of sunset color. We then went into town and ate some fish and walked to the cutest little grocery store(it was super fancy) and of course had to get some chocolate for dessert. Unfortunately, our weekend had to come to an end and we left the next day. But, don't worry San Diego, we will be back...hopefully sooner than later.
