Portland, OREGON

We spent two days in Portland, OR back in June. If you're looking for a quick weekend getaway, Portland is a really great place to choose. We loved Portland! The weather was really perfect, and we went right before the Rose Festival so it was pretty crowded, but we loved it! We took public transportation  (the Max) from our hotel to downtown Portland, we got off in Chinatown and walked to Voodoo Donuts, which is probably one of the most famous doughnut shops in all of Portland. They have the coolest doughnuts ever, of course including a voodoo doll shaped donut, maple bacon, cereal topped donuts, and many many more crazy flavors. Then we walked along the waterfront, which was pretty full of homeless people and druggies, but if you ignore that it's really pretty...and we were there around sunset so the river was really gorgeous. We finished the night by getting some Vietnamese food at one of the many food carts. We even met a local kid who we ate dinner with and he was really interesting to talk to.

The next morning we went to one of my favorite places to go to on the entire west coast, the International Rose Test Garden. It is a garden where they grow thousands and thousands of different breeds of roses. It's on the top of Portland, so we just took the public transportation and then walked up the hill(which probably takes about 30 minutes). It's free admission and people just go there and enjoy the beauty and the free smells. We probably spent two hours there just enjoying the scenery, taking pictures, and smelling all of the many breeds of roses.  From there we walked back down the hill to Powell Books, which is a book store that's an entire block. You could be there for hours!! It has every type of book you could ever imagine! Then we stopped at the center of the city and ate at another food cart, but this time we got a Philly Cheese steak. Then we headed home.

Thank you for reading and following us around the world.
